Cllr. Gearóid Buckley has welcomed the news that pharmaceutical giant MSD is to invest €29million and creating 70 new jobs in West Cork.

MSD’s plant has been a long standing employer in the Bandon community. Since 1980 the Brinny plant has provided employment to many people and now stands at 500.

‘These 70 new jobs are just what our community needs. Seventy new jobs will directly enhance the lives of seventy families and the greater community.

‘It is great to see MSD committing their future to the Bandon area. MSD have been part of the community since they arrived in 1980, they have forged strong relationships with many community groups and local schools.

‘I believe that foreign direct investment will play a key role in weathering the current economic climate.

‘This news reinforces that Bandon is a great place to do business, a highly skilled and educated work force, strategically located just 25 minutes from both Cork and Cork Airport.’
