The Bandon Branch of the Labour Party organised a very successful “Shop Local Campaign” in Bandon last Saturday afternoon.

In the course of the evening, Branch members handed out a complimentary shopping bag to the many shoppers on the Main Street and in the local Shopping Centres. People were then asked to fill the bag with local produce.

Labour Party Town Councillor for Bandon, Cllr. Gearóid Buckley said, ‘I am delighted by the very positive reaction of people to the initiative. We have to support our local businesses in order to keep jobs in Bandon. In the space of a few hours, we gave out three to four hundred shopping bags.’

Cllr. Buckley concluded by stating that, ‘The local Labour Party Branch is committed to doing all it can to encourage consumers to shop local and to support and sustain jobs in Bandon.’
