Bandon Town Council meets the second Tuesday of every month. Meetings take place in the Council Chamber, which is located to the right of the Town hall. Meetings usually begin at 6.30pm, however this can change so please contact me prior the meeting to ensure that you have the correct time.

Town Council Meetings are public meetings, and there is a viewing galley in the Chamber. Members of the public can attend and if given prior permission can speak on a matter. however they must give prior notice in writing.

The Bandon Town Council discuss many issues that relate to Bandon Town. However without any real power or budget their role is really of lobbyist rather than implementation.  Our ;ast Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government John Gormly stated that the purpose of Town councils such as Bandon is to act in a “ceremonial role”.

Contrary to this Towns such as Kinsale and Clonakilty are fully rate-able authorities, and are known as Urban District Councils. These Councils keep the money collected from rate payers in the town and have the power to designate budgets and schemes for the town. It is crucial that Bandon also gets a similar status. It is very important to have control over our own affairs.
